I woke up to find David Downs sitting in the living room next to open French doors to a balcony over looking a courtyard in Barcelona. I just arrived to Barcelona from Chiang Mai for Spannabis.

David was rolling a joint as I sat down next to him with my morning coffee.
He was working on the final touches for “Get to the Bag”—the first-ever exhibition of cannabis mylar bag art at San Francisco’s stunning Mirus Gallery that debuted 4/20 this year.
While we were catching up, I mentioned how much I want to display my work on the West Coast in a large format.
And that’s when Macro-Dose was born…

…Well, it wasn’t as straight forward as that.
After visiting Barcelona, I traveled through Morocco, returned to Barcelona, and then went on to Portugal for about a month before returning to the states after 5 months abroad.
Somewhere in the middle of all that, David reached out to me with the SFHashWeek concepts. Despite the tight timeline and logistics of organizing an exhibit —not to mention all the other events David was coordinating —the process went fairly smoothly.

I wanted to display my work similar to the way I’d been viewing art when I visit different museums and exhibits around the world.
Big, bold, ornate carved solid wood frames, timeless, gold, extravagant — and extremely limited editions of 3!
The images I selected displayed the whole flower, microphotographs of trichomes, hash in different ways —diamonds, fresh press, full melt, rosin and as a flag.
It was cool to visually explain hash to people who were unfamiliar with it.

Even though Macro-Dose kicked off SFHashWeek, I felt pulled to display a couple psychedelic mushroom images too.
Opening night on 7/10 was a blast! I was thrilled to see both familiar and new faces. Exhibiting my work is such a rewarding experience —it’s hard to find words to describe the feeling it gives me.
Mad props to David and SFHashWeek Crew for creating such a memorable, fun, hashy, artsy, and epic week of events!!
I picked up a few disposable point-and-shoot cameras from my favorite film lab, Oscar’s Photo Lab, so anyone could candidly capture the moments.
I’m stoked with the photos, check em out below!

If you aren’t able to see the exhibit in person and interested in purchasing one of three limited editions you still have a chance!
While ‘Cosmic Coral’ has sold out, there are 11 other images waiting for a wall to call home.
Head over to SFHashWeek’s site to get a Kandid Kush Macro-Dose Limited Edition.
