The Humboldt Seed Company

About the project

Working with Humboldt Seed Company started in late 2019 with fall harvest documentation, shooting the strains they had been developing for seed catalog and packaging photography. From there the work expanded into nearly every format and context I operate in.

Event coverage grew from local to international. Emerald Cup, Hall of Flowers, and the California State Fair on the domestic side, Spannabis and Mary Jane Berlin on the international side, producing content for both earned and paid media placements. Studio work covered dozens of strains across flower portraits, top cola, 1:1 through 5:1 macro, and microscope level trichome imagery including their Triploid genetics. Videography spanned short interviews, how-to content, and SEO video built for their blog and website. On location editorial took me into pheno hunts with the breeding team, partner farms, and grow documentation projects including timelapse work. I’ve shot the brand in 35mm, 120 film, digital, and drone.

Across six years the images built out HSC’s brand presence from the ground up, appearing across their web, print, packaging, and marketing campaigns. Work from this collaboration has been published in Cannabis Now, Grow Magazine, High Times, Magazin Konopi, Hii Magazine, Leafly, and Leaf Magazine.
